Following are steps for View Default encoding and Character set in Notepad++.

  • Go to the Encoding menu > Menu list out all encodings and character sets.
  • It shows the option ticked within the Menu item
  • My Editor shows UTF-8 is checked and it is default encoding configured.
  • You can still change the Encoding and Character Set with this option

  • Open the Notepad++ editor and open any file
  • Go to the Encoding menu > Menu list out all encodings and character sets.
  • You can use UTF-18 or Convert UTF-8 or 16 or any enoding
  • Also, You can change the character set to ISO or Windows char-sets
