How to view and change default encoding with autosave in Notepad++

Following are steps for View Default encoding and Character set in Notepad++.

  • Go to Encoding menu > Menu list out all encodings and Character-sets.
  • It shows the option ticked within the Menu item
  • My Editor shows UTF-8 is checked and its is default encoding configured.
  • You can still change the Encoding and Character Set with this option

Let’s see the following steps to change default encoding and character set

  • Open the Notepad++ editor and open any file
  • Go to Encoding menu > Menu list out all encodings and Character-sets.
  • You can use UTF-18 or Convert UTF-8 or 16 or any enoding
  • Also, You can change the character-set to ISO or windows char-sets
